And We Have Winter Again……

Posted on

Winter seems to come and go over and over this year so I took some more shots to prove we had some winter….even if it only stays around for a few days.

The puppies enjoyed playing in the snow too…..they like winter! 🙂

Words From A New Dad-To-Be……

Posted on

My cousin is going to be a dad for the first time and they just found out that they are having a boy. This was his Facebook status yesterday:

“What an overwhelming feeling of life and responsibility for someone more important than me…..love my little man so much already. It’s not about me anymore..and I thank God for that …a much needed relief..and a reason to be here.” A.H.

If all dad’s felt his way about their born or unborn children I think our world would be a better place for sure.

Dad’s, do your kids and yourself a favour…….love them, and always be there for them no matter what.

Congratulations to A & A!!

1.   My favorite place I’ve ever traveled to is    Prince Edward Island……my husband and I spent some time there when we first met so it’s kind of special.

2.    Scotland     is somewhere I’d love to go someday, with my husband. His family is from there and we would visit his clan’s castle.
3.  I pass the time on a plane (or bus, or car ride or train) by     sleeping or playing with my laptop or blackberry.
4.  My three must-haves when I travel are   blackberry, laptop and camera.
5.  My favorite travel companion is    my husband Chris.
6.  The craziest thing that ever happened to me while traveling is  my luggage got lost on my first airplane trip ever 22 years ago when I flew to Toronto for a weekend trade show and I had to borrow clothes from my friend Lori. My luggage showed up several days later at home.
7.  The most exotic food I’ve ever tried while traveling is….  I’m not very adventurous so haven’t tried any food I would call exotic.

8.  If I could live anywhere else, I’d live in    Prince Edward Island.
9.  I have been to  states in the U.S….. Maine, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York.

Everything Just Looks Prettier With Snow

Posted on

I got out for a walk with the dogs today and took a few pictures along the way. To me everything just looks prettier with snow. I’m glad I went out today since they are calling for rain and a high of 6 degrees celsius on Monday……We can kiss this snow good-bye. 😦

Just What You Want to Hear…..

Posted on

My Monday morning didn’t go exactly as I imagined it. Today was day 1 of our sidewalk sale so I imagined I would spend the better part of my morning just making sure everything was all set up and all the stores had everything they needed to have their sales on display. Before I got started on that my daughter called me to tell me she had an accident in her gym class and her teacher was going to call me to let me know if she thought she should go to the hospital……words every mom wants to hear no matter how old their child is. Apparently they were doing self-defense and they had to break a board with their hand……she didn’t break the board on the first try but she might have broken her wrist. Of course since she didn’t break the board she did have to try again, she wouldn’t want anyone to say she couldn’t do it.

There was a bit of phone calling back and forth between Erika and my husband and I before we finally decided to call our doctor and see if we could get her looked at. We never did hear anything from her teacher. We saw the doctor, he didn’t think it was broken but sent her to get it x-rayed anyway. That took up the best part of my morning.

Now we wait to hear the results from our doctor but I’m guessing there’s nothing actually broken, just badly bruised. Maybe next time she will give the board just one try.

A Sunday Drive and Soccer Cleats…….

Posted on

Yesterday was such a nice day for a Sunday drive. We weren’t really planning on going anywhere but Erika decided that she “needed” her new cleats “today”. Her old cleats were pretty much destroyed by the end of soccer season last year and so she has taped them together for try outs and practices ever since. That would be roughly 4 and 1/2 months of taped up cleats for practices 3 times a week……that’s a lot of tape. Probably could have bought her a new pair for the amount money we spent on tape to hold hers together……but she really loved those cleats and didn’t want to give them up.

The worn out needing to be retired comfy favorite cleats......

So Erika googled shopping hours for the “one and only” soccer store here and said it was open from noon until 4:00pm. We all got showered, dressed and headed “downtown” to buy a pair of cleats. Surprise!!!!…..the soccer store wasn’t open. Decision time. Wait until another day or go somewhere else to look for cleats? Of course….go somewhere else for cleats!

First stop, Burlington to check out a soccer store there. Bad experience. First of all they had very little selection and what they did have on display had some sizes circled so I asked the girl if that meant they had those sizes or didn’t have those sizes and she told me she didn’t know they didn’t really keep that up. Are you kidding me? You work here…..know what you’re selling!! Ok deep breath……Erika found one pair she kind of liked…..”Excuse me, would you have these in a ladies 7 or 8?”…….Her answer? “I’m not sure.” Stay calm, stay calm…..”Could you go check for me please? That would be awesome.” Wow!! I’m guessing we ruined her nice quiet day by walking into the store. She came back empty-handed and said they didn’t have much in stock right now but we should come back in March when they get their new stock in. Ha ha ha ha like I ever have any intention of going back to that store. People, even young people need to learn that a little customer service goes a long way.

Back in the car and off to Oakville to try another soccer store. What a different experience. The young girl was super helpful. She got out shoes in every style that Erika wanted to try on…..which was a few. Success!!! Not only did “Little Miss I Can Never Make A Decision” find cleats she liked…..she found two pair she liked enough to buy and another she would still like to buy.

One pair of purchased cleats.

The other pair of purchased cleats.

And the pair she would still like to purchase.

It was a great day for a Sunday drive…..and some soccer cleat shopping. 🙂
